where to stay in santa monica, proper hotel
Within a 10 minute drive of Santa Monica Beach and Venice Beach is the design forward hotel, Proper Hotel Santa Monica, which opened its doors in June 2019. Santa Monica may be known for it’s iconic beach side hotels, but The Proper brings a contemporary, state-of-the-art presence to the westside. Designed by the renowned interior designer, Kelly Wearstler, one of my longtime favorites, has designed this sophisticatedly furnished yet subtly well-styled space of art and relaxation.
On a trip to Los Angeles, we spent 4 nights at this hotel to explore the area and check out this property. Checking in on a mid day of the week, we spent quite some time at the hotel, enjoying all of their amenities like the rooftop pool, restaurants and lounge spaces. Every piece of furniture had tasteful craftsmanship and design, revealing different textures all around the property. Our whole stay could have been spent exploring all the details of the arrangements and every corner had something new to offer.
Every morning breakfast is served at the Calabra Rooftop restaurant right by the pool which has sweeping views of the Pacific. The restaurant serves Mediterranean and California cuisine from breakfast to dinner.

Overall, we loved our stay here and would highly recommend it. The gorgeous design felt like we were always finding something new, the service was exceptional, and the location was perfect for our young family. We were able to explore the area a lot during our stay and found it convenient to get around to places.
