LAKE TAHOE’S GEM - YURT GLAMPING AT HOPE VALLEY
If you are looking for the best Bay Area glamping for a weekend getaway to nature this is the place to be! Tucked away in the Alpine County, surrounded by aspen trees yet just 20minutes to South Lake Tahoe, is Desolation hope valley.
Year-round you can expect to find Hope Valley dressed in its seasonal best. The only thing missing here, thankfully, is the crowds. It’s mainly outdoor recreationists who pass through this pocket of Alpine County making it California’s least populated county.
During a long weekend in October I was looking for a glamping experience for our kids. I love camping, and hope to introduce this to our kids in the future. I thought this would be a good introduction for them.
Plus it has all the perks of a regular camping experience but with the convenience and luxury of a hotel (shelter, comfortable bed, power outlets).
Desolation Hope Valley was a great location to make home base while exploring the surrounding area and making a trip to South Lake Tahoe.
They offer different options from historic cabins, houses, yurts, RV parking, and campsites.
We opted for the yurt and it fit our family of 4 comfortably, there was a King sized bed and a pull out couch which fit the kids perfectly. My favorite part of it was the stargazing roof at night as well as the patio that overlooked the mountains.
The yurt was well insulated, ranging from 20-25ft, and has a convenient soaking tub for the kids to take a bath.

Wood-Fired Sauna: Eastern European style woodfired sauna offering an organic experience all to yourself. The hotel books you a 45minute session to use the sauna.
outdoor recreation: fishing, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, boating & beyond
We loved our time glamping near Tahoe in Hope Valley where there was no cell phone connection. It was the perfect getaway to spend quality time as a family and really enjoy being disconnected to the world - just the off the grid connection to nature we needed!
