Mexico is known for its vibrant and beautiful culture, amazing food, margaritas and stunning beaches. It’s one of the best destinations for a tropical getaway. Centered on the Yucatán Peninsula bordering the Carribean Sea is Cancun, commonly known for all-inclusive experiences, where food and drinks are included and many more amenities.

The Finest Hotel is one of the most luxurious all-inclusive family-friendly resorts we’ve been to that redefined the way we think of an all-inclusive through their variety, quality cuisine and amazing service. The hotel offers a complimentary airport pick up and drop off limousine that can be arranged prior to arrival. As you approach the resort, you’re taken right through the grand lobby where a glass of champagne is served and juice for the kids while they check you in.

From the main entrance of the lobby there is a central lounge area where the Golden Bar is located which turns in to a live music bar during the night. There are 15 bars and lounges in the resort and the mixologists will happily create a signature drink just for you. All premium wine, beer, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks are included.

ROOMS

The junior suites are quite spacious compared to most other resorts. It comes with a queen size pull out bed, private jacuzzi, balcony and sun-beds. Some of the best features of the rooms are amenities such as the 24-hour complimentary room service, garment steamer, mini-bar stocked with wine and liquor, baby care amenities. By request, baby necessities can be set up prior to arrival such as baby bottle sterilizer, high chair, baby bathtub, crib, electric kettle and a baby monitor.

BEACH & POOLS

Within a short walking distance there is a private beach access for resort members. The best part is that beach toys are provided for kids and a restaurant which serves all sorts of drinks all throughout the day and food during meal hours. Cabanas are all along the beach with extra towels and plenty of chairs and lounger sets for families.

Most of our days were spent in the pools with the kids. With multiple pools around the resort we often had the pool to ourselves.

DINING

At The Finest, with twelve different restaurants to choose from there is a true culinary variety. We were there for 7days and ate at a new place almost every day. With a few pools with swim-up bars, sometimes it felt like we were eating around the clock.

The Juice bar has organic fruits and vegetables and a wide range of smoothies, juices and protein shakes to choose from. During 12pm - 4pm fresh young coconuts are available.

Another cute feature of the resort was The Sweet Corner right outside the main lobby. This cafe style food store offers a selection of pastries, sandwiches, coffee, milkshakes and ice cream.

ADULTS ONLY DINING

The Finest is also great for couples who travel alone or parents who can have their kids be babysat while getting to enjoy a night out at some of the adults only restaurants/bars. The french restaurant, Le Petit Plaisir was our favorite, serving up some of the best dishes we’ve had in French cuisine. It has a very romantic atmosphere and the food was beautifully plated and delicious. Note: There is a strict dress code.

KIDS CLUB

Finest Playa Mujeres is incredibly family-friendly and has a dedicated kids club and kids water park facility. It also caters to the different age groups and has 3 separate areas within the kids club - mini club for 3 to 6 year olds, maxi club for 7 to 11 year olds, and a teens club for 12 to 15 year olds. Kids under 3 are still allowed in the kids club but must be supervised by their parents.

The two water parks were popular but the mini club was also a good place for the littles to escape the heat and play with the variety of toys. Inside the kids mini club there is a nap room, changing room and bathroom for the littles.

There are always fun and new kid club acitivites that are happening every day. During our stay the kids got to make their own t-shirts, key chains and horseback ride. Apart from the kids club there is the Imagine lounges conveniently located near the main lobby where most of the restaurants are. It’s completely supervised and kids can watch movies or play with toys while parents enjoy some quiet time having their meals. (note: only kids ages 3 & up who are potty trained are allowed to be left with the supervisors).

Overall the time at Finest Hotel was a reminder that an all-inclusive can be about quality and not quantity. It was a reminder that it can also be serene, peaceful and luxurious even with kids. It is highly recommended whether going as a family or as a couple.
